Have you heard the expression, “Failing to plan is planing to fail”? Now there is an expression that could keep someone from taking action. How about you? Are you an over planner? Are you afraid of taking a few blisters on the toes on your road to success because by the time you got your shoes broken in and comfortable they were worn out?
You can give people all the encouragement quotes that you find, (and you are going to find a lot on this blog), but until they take action nothing is going to happen.
I was at a small town farm team baseball game a few years ago and the pitcher would take forever to throw the ball. I think if he had a cell phone he would have made a few calls between pitches just so he would not have to throw that ball. The person I was with was getting really irritated and it seemed like all the other players on the field were too. Maybe they were just bored.
Finally my friend yelled out. “Hey, nothing is going to happen until you throw the ball.” It was a small stadium and we were about 2 rows from the field and several people did hear the comment. However, the pitcher finally did take some action, and we were able to continue to watch the game.
I don’t remember if the home team won or lost that game, but I do remember that nothing happened until the pitcher took some action.
Don’t be afraid to start something. What if it goes wrong? Well you learned one thing that you do not have to try again because hopefully you know that what you attempted did not work. Is that a failure? Perhaps some would see it that way, but if you continue on your journey it is just a bump in the road or a detour.
The Bible tells us the same things as the post above. becoming doers of the word and not merely listeners. Here’s a good post from my blog that tackles on this.

I believe the Bible is still the best source of encouragement.

Nice post – I couldn’t agree more! Failure to take action lead to one thing – NOTHING.
If we do nothing, nothing will ever happen

I know we all need more hours in our day sometimes. I am amazed at how fast time flies because there is always so much to do.
The Bible is definitely the first book of encouragement.
It is full of stories of men and women who were not the movie star type heroes until God came into their lives.
However if they did not take action, nothing would have changed. It is all part of faith, hope, and love.
Such an uplifting and refreshing blog to visit. It is all to easy to stay uncomfortable in the so-called ‘comfort zone’ – just because it is easier not to change. Reading your post is a reminder that it is worth going through that temporary discomfort so you can move forward to something new.

Oh you are so right. Sometimes we handcuff ourselves because we fear what might happen. Somebody told me once “if you wait til it’s perfect you’ll never get started” Take action – learn as you go
Great post – thanks

All the knowledge in the world is worth nothing if noone acts on it. Yeah, don’t just dive in, but also don’t wait until you are 100% sure, because that may never happen.
Great post, and great blog. Thanks
So true, overplanning is a sure way to never take an action. Thank you for a great post and the thought for the day!

Rodney that is really good advice. Sometimes listening to your closest family members and friends can actually hold you back, too. You have to be really stubborn to go on that road less traveled and march to your own drummer. The rewards are worth it though in my opinion.
