Keep The Faith

How many of you have heard this encouragement quote? Keep the faith is one that is passed on from generation to generation, but no one really knows where it started. However “keep the faith” is a highly used phrase that never seems to go out of date.
Here is one quote about faith.
Father Brian Kilkenney Finn:… And it’s very important to understand the difference between religion and faith. Because faith is not about having the right answers. Faith is a feeling. Faith is a hunch, really. It’s a hunch that there is something bigger connecting it all… connecting us all together. And that feeling, that hunch, is God. And coming here tonight, on your Sunday evening… to connect with that feeling, that is an act of faith. And so all I have to do is look around the room at this packed church… to know that we’re doing pretty well as a community. Even if all of you failed my pop quiz miserably.
That quote was taken from the movie called Keeping the Faith that was released in 2000. I never saw the movie, but I found the quote. The premise of the movie is kind of crazy with a priest and a rabbi falling in love with the same woman. That is Hollywood for you.
In good times and in bad times, it has to be faith that get most of us through it. I still believe that most people have faith. Faith is something; faith to face another day; faith to hold onto.
When you think of the worst of times, people still survived. I think of the holocaust, and how people did survive the horrors of the concentration camps. I think of slavery throughout history, and even now there is still slavery going on in parts of the world. People still survive the worst of conditions. Man’s inhumanity towards man is probably the most difficult behavior to deal with, and one that tests faith. I can think of other circumstances that do, too, but treating anyone with cruelty and abuse has to be the worst.
People have to focus on the good in the world, and the good that can come. I strongly feel that you can only do this through having a solid faith. When you have faith, you have strength, or more strength. You see it through history. The strongest people are usually the ones with faith.
So when you tell someone to “Keep The Faith”, check with yourself, too. To pass that on, we have to be the example of what one who keeps the faith acts like. When we examine our own behavior, we have to remember that keeping the faith is an outward demonstration of an inward feeling. Just realizing that can be humbling.
Keep the Faith!

Beautiful post Rocque, faith to me is a feeling of promise and hope. It is a belief, so depending on your definition of religion it could be part of a religion. You are so right that one should have faith everyday and be proud to demonstrate it. It is difficult at times especially when you watch the news and wonder how the human race can be so violent towards each other. But that’s when we have to keep the faith and pass that hope on to others in our communities. Yes, we are all connected and can you imagine what we could accomplish if we all kept the faith.
Thanks so much for sharing this message of hope.
No matter what religion we are all one –
Quoting another favorite movie “may the force be with you”

One thing I would like to ad to your post is that there must be a firm foundation for your faith. If not, when your faith is truely tested it will not stand up. My own faith is built on a solid foundation. That foundation is Jesus Christ. Make sure your faith is on a strong foundation. Thanks for the post.

I love Star Wars! I usually tell my students to “use the force”. Star Wars is the best! I have the domain name atozstarwars.com where I have set up a Star Wars gift store. I think in the future I will convert it to a blog.
Yoda has some great quotes. Whoever wrote for Yoda was a genius. I wish it was me!
Luca, you are a superhero on the net! A jedi blog master.
Thanks for the comment Larry. I agree with the solid foundation.
People who do not understand faith have a much more difficult time coping with the tragedies that life will send their way.
When we live long enough and we have a strong faith we get that faith reinforced. I think it is more difficult not to believe than it is to believe. Jesus is the Rock!
Nicely put! As a Star Wars fan I can truly appreciate the wording and the message it shares!
thanks Rocque

Rocque,
If you only knew how many time my friends would see me and say “Luke, I am your father” Cool store you have but now I want to buy something – I’ll check it out some more.
How long have you had the site?

Hi Luca,
That is so funny. I never really thought of that Star Wars connection.
I have had the store for a while. Promotion is always my weakest area.
I feel I am getting better with it now. What do you like to collect?
Or are you a star wars collector?
It is so important to focus on the good – because then you will attract more of it into your life! I try not to think about what I don’t want but rather on what I do want in life….it seems to work better that way!
