Helping Hands

How many of you feel that we were put on this earth to help one another?
Do the people who have the most inner peace tend to be the ones who look outside of their own circumstances?
When you think of great people like Gandhi, and Mother Teresa, or Nelson Mandela, we do not see people who helped from afar, but we see people who were in the trenches with those less fortunate. Although George Washington was very wealthy, he was fighting in winter, risking his life so that a nation could live in freedom. Does greatness always involve sacrifice? I believe it does.
What makes a great person is that they do not see it as that. Easing the suffering of others is placed above what discomforts they might face.
Not all heroes and heroines reach the political acceptance and stature of a Gandhi, Teresa, Mandela, or Washington though. Most of them we never ever get to know by the attention and fame bestowed upon them. However without them, the world would not be as great of a place.
It seems that all too often lately we are asked to donate to one cause or another. It is difficult to choose sometime or we feel that we just do not have enough to donate. However there are still individuals that decide to lend a hand in the fund raising for a variety of charities.
My friend Chris Lang sent out an email today asking for support for a website that he viewed. Of course when Chris does this I usually go see who he is supporting. Chris is a very caring individual who will go out of his way to help people. He found this website when he was Stumbling (lol, I mean using the website Stumble Upon). Chris has a huge following and I am hoping that they all show support of Chris and the charities by picking one of the causes mentioned and donating a dollar to it. A mere dollar! Maybe pick two, or all 5 of the charities.
Avoid one Starbucks, or one trip to Del Taco (my favorite), or Sonic, or your favorite place to toss away a dollar of 5 and reach out and lend that helping hand. I will even add a video on here with some cool music to get you in the giving mood. No, it is not me or my music.
