How do some people always seem so happy and to enjoy life no matter what they are facing?
I think it is important to remember the joy of being a child. Remember the simple things that brought a smile to your face? As a child a butterfly on a flower could bring us moments of joy and wonder. Do you take time to notice such things now?
Think of some encouragement quotes that you heard when you were going beyond childhood and were probably made popular for a need to stop and remember simpler times.
Here is one encouragement quote that I carry around. “Take Some Time To Stop And Smell The Roses.” Do you do that? Or do you only do that if someone buys you roses? Well if roses are not in season, I have heard this quote changed to “take time to smell the coffee”. Do you do that? Are you so preoccupied with whatever is taking you away from the simple joy producing moments that you rarely notice them anymore?
To be an encouragement to someone else you should reflect on your daily routine, and make sure that you are experiencing enough faith and hope and love in your life to be the person people wonder about. For some people this is a gift. You wonder if they live in the magic bubble. I had people say that about me years ago. They would say, “One day that bubble you live in is going to burst.” Now that is a pretty horrible thing to say to anyone.
Living in the bubble does not come naturally. We choose to be happy, we choose to hold onto things that rob our joy from us. I want my wrinkles to be happy wrinkles, now wrinkles of frowns and worry. It is a choice I make every day. Most times it is a choice of who we are going to spend our time with, too.
Get rid of the negative people who weigh you down. Go to the park and watch a little league game. Or watch a Disney movie. Get back to a simpler time for you, if just for a few minutes a day in your own mind.
Here is another encouragement quote that I will leave you with for today. “Do you need a smile? Why not share yours first?” Smile at the next person you see, and check the response you get. If you get a blank stare, that person needed your smile a whole lot more than you needed theirs. Practice smiling at people, and see how your day changes. Smile often it is good exercise for your face.

In our busy lives we often forget to take the time to enjoy the simple things in life. There’s so much stress in todays society that we live with a cloud over our heads. I try to stay possitive and eliminate the negative forces around me but even that takes effort. It’s effort well spent

“Go to the park and watch a little league game”
About two and a half years ago, my brother in law was in a severe motorcycle accident, resulting in TBI, and to this day he has the mind of about a 10 year old. Since that accident, he developed a huge passion for going to our local little league games. This meant that I would typically have to take him… and it is true, from that experience, watching those kids play, and watching the joy on my BIL’s face, gave me a whole new outlook on life.

If you live near a place where kids play ice hockey, that is also a lot of fun to watch. A friend of mine had two boys who played. The family was from Minnesota, and they all skated. I had a lot of fun skating with them, and we all played in a coed league together that was just for fun.
I really enjoyed watching her boys play for fun, and the really little kids who played were the best.
For them it was not about winning it was just about being out there. No one ever gave up. Having the other team score was just part of the game and the game went on.
I wonder how many of us feel that one loss is the end of the game for us? We can learn a lot by watching children.
I am glad that you choose to spend time with your brother in law. You can find a lot of joy in those moments.
This really hit true for me. I have a large rose bush outside my garage and I walk past it everyday without smelling the roses. I rather run off to the office. Next time I’ll slow it down.

Yes Mike, sooner or later you will have to prune that rose bush, too. When you do that it will be happy and reward you with pretty roses. The best time to do that is in winter I believe.
Where I live the aphids ate all my roses. We get horrible aphid attacks here. There are even too many for the ladybugs, but this year I think that is how I got all the lizards. They are fat and happy and do not seem to run from me as much now. Maybe they are too content.
There is nothing better than letting go of the inner child with your own children. They will remember those times the most. It is so easy to slip into and get stuck in ‘adult mode’ – I try to let go as much as I can.
