In the USA we have adopted a Mexican Independence Holiday that happened on May 5, or as it is called in Spanish, Cinco de Mayo. I have been to this little town of Puebla, Mexico that is 100 miles east of Mexico city. History can come to life there where you can see where the Cinco de Mayo battle took place. The Mexican soldiers were outnumbered by French who were making their way to Mexico’s capital. Against all odds the Mexican army aided by stampeding cattle and Indians wielding machetes defeated the French Army that day. That was back in 1862.

The USA had its own civil war trouble going on during that time. Some say that the French were going to aid the Confederate Army during that time, and this battle changed a possible outcome of the USA Civil War.
